Carlos grew up in East Oakland and holds a BA/BS in Chicano Studies and Mathematics from UC Berkeley. His journey from student to educator has shaped his belief that education is most powerful when it dismantles barriers, validates culture, and equips young people to reshape their world.

In the classroom, Carlos brings creativity, empathy, and a strong commitment to equity, designing engaging math experiences that build conceptual understanding while fostering confidence, identity, and resilience. He sees mathematics not just as a subject, but as a way to spark curiosity and empower students to think critically and see themselves as capable learners.

Outside of school, Carlos enjoys cheering on the Warriors and the Raiders and is a fan of Star Wars.
