The Bishop O’Dowd High School community gathered on the Quad on September 7 to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit, the first liturgy of the 2017-18 school year.
Prior to the start of the liturgy, the Campus Ministry Team performed a skit focused on “Community in Diversity,” an integral element in O’Dowd’s charism.
The CMT members noted that our school community is special because each member is different – like an assortment of individual puzzle pieces coming together as one.
In his homily, campus chaplain Fr. Jim Sullivan said that the first reading, an adaptation of Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians: 1 Corinthians 12:26, emphasized the theme of Community in Diversity. “Everyone here has something unique to contribute, and that’s what makes our community so rich.”
At the conclusion of the liturgy, CMT members led special blessings of each individual class and the faculty and staff.
