The O’Dowd Bike Club participated in Race #4 of the NorCal League race season at Granite Bay State Park near Folsom, California, on April 8. Heavy rain the previous day made for a torturous course on race day, with mud pits, river crossings and rock gardens for which the Granite Bay Grinder is infamous. The Dragons were led by Caleb O’Hare ’18, with a 3rd place finish in the JV category moving him to 4th place overall in the season standings. Matthew Justice ’20, participating in his first NorCal race, placed 9th in in a strong freshman field. O’Dowd’s varsity rider Ryan Steinwert ’17 had another good race, placing 14th in the very fast varsity field. Next up for the Dragons is Race #5/Conference Championships at Six Sigma Ranch in Lower Lake California, set for April 29.
