Thanks to the generosity of the O’Dowd community, we raised $11,500 to support the life-saving efforts of MOAS – the Migrant Offshore Aid Station during last week’s Mission Drive.
An annual event, Mission Drive is a focused time to learn more about an international need and raise money to address the issue.
Founded in 2014 as a humanitarian organization, MOAS was the first private search and rescue organization in the Mediterranean. It was designed to provide aid to the many people fleeing violence, persecution and poverty who felt they had no choice but to attempt the dangerous sea crossing to reach Europe.
We know the international refugee crisis is extremely complex. Please know that you did something to respond to one aspect of the multi-faceted perils that refugees face. Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful generosity.
Below is the letter we received from MOAS.

To everyone at Bishop O’Dowd High School,
First, we must say how grateful we are that you have chosen our organization as the recipient of your mission week drive; we are honoured by your support.
