Tim teaches science with an emphasis on helping students experience the natural world firsthand. Originally from Sunnyvale, California, he earned two bachelor’s degrees from UC Berkeley—one in Biology and one in Physical Education—along with an MS in Kinesiology from CSU East Bay and an MEd in Education from Holy Names University, where he also completed a certificate in Educational Therapy.

He believes that while life science helps students understand the world around and within them, the deeper goal is learning how to learn. His teaching often extends beyond the classroom, encouraging students to explore and engage with nature directly. Outside of school, he enjoys hiking, backpacking, swimming in lakes, and building things.
