Tim joined O’Dowd after seven years of teaching science at Castilleja School and The Nueva School. Before becoming a teacher, he developed data visualizations and science communication tools for researchers at Climate Policy Initiative, an international NGO working to advance effective climate policies. He also worked at TerraPass, shepherding 500,000 metric tons of carbon credits through the voluntary market and modeling greenhouse gas emissions from dairies and landfills across the U.S.

Earlier in his career, Tim worked as a self-described “professional tree hugger,” measuring carbon and tracking nutrients through dryland and tropical forests in Hawai‘i and the desert Southwest.

When he’s not beguiling students in the classroom, Tim can be found scraping his knuckles at a climbing gym, running the trails in Bay Area parks, or solving a crossword in a shady spot around Lake Merritt.
