Why I Teach:

Most powerful teaching technique:

Why are the subjects you teach important?:

Favorite quotes:

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” Albert Camus
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue.” -Rainer Maria Rilke

Favorite trivia:

When you take a new deck of cards and shuffle it, there’s a high chance that the order of the cards is the only time that order of cards has ever existed.

Any trivia about space, cosmology, and black holes fascinates and delights me. Did you know that some black holes are as small as an atom?

Recommended visual media:

I like Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV and movies (think Star Wars, Dune, Three Body Problem), but also low-stakes lighthearted rom com type media. I am also a huge fan of Survivor and I’m pretty sure I’d win if I were ever on that show.

Recommended reads:

Peace is Every Step - Thich Nhat Hanh
Emergent Strategy - adrienne maree brown
Braiding Sweetgrass - Robin Wall Kimmerer
Letters to a Young Poet - Rainer Maria Rilke
Freedom is a Constant Struggle - Angela Davis

Hobbies or outside interests:

I play in a multigenerational & multiethnic Balinese Gamelan musical ensemble.
I am an avid long-distance runner and my favorite race distance is the 100k (62mi).
I am a dog mom.
