Born and raised in Oakland, Kaija graduated from Berkeley High School before spending 15 years in San Francisco. She earned her BA in Classics from San Francisco State University and her master’s in Education from the University of San Francisco.

Kaija is passionate about helping students better understand the country they live in through the study of U.S. History and Government.

Outside of school, Kaija loves reading and watching all things genre fiction. She also enjoys traveling to see musical theater and seeking out bookstores around the country—and the world—where she can settle in with a good latte.
