Raised in San Leandro after spending his early childhood in San Francisco, EJ is a proud O’Dowd alumnus whose journey in education began as a student volunteer through the school’s Friends Project. He earned his BA in Communication, with a minor in Spanish, from San Diego State University. He began teaching right out of college and brings a whole-person, student-centered approach to his classroom—grounded in mutual respect, critical thinking, and empathy. He is passionate about inspiring young people to grow as both learners and individuals. Outside of school, he enjoys cheering on the Giants, 49ers, and Warriors, spending time in nature with his dog Zuca, making music, traveling, and exploring new cultures and experiences.
