For students who are new to a sport or just want to work on their skills, O’Dowd’s Summer Athletic Camps focus on skill development and support athletes at all levels. Coed Basketball (Incoming 6th-8th)
Middle School Session 1, June 13 – June 24: 12:30 – 1:50pm
$240
This camp will focus on individual basketball fundamentals as well as team concepts. Sessions will include; ball-handling, passing, footwork fundamentals, shooting fundamentals, transition drills, offensive and defensive team concepts, and competitive play. Student-athletes are encouraged to wear athletic clothes and shoes.
Boys Basketball (Incoming 6th-8th)
Middle School Session 2, July 5 – July 15: 12:30 – 1:50pm OR 2:00 – 3:20pm

This class is for individuals who are either interested in learning more about the game of basketball or have recently been introduced to basketball and are looking to improve on their basic skill-set. This class will feature a strong and targeted emphasis on building a solid foundation of basketball fundamentals through a variety of learning activities.
Over the course of the class, players will be introduced to new individual and team drills which encompass the five target areas of: footwork, dribbling, passing, ball handling, and shooting. The drills and activities in this class are progressively taught and reviewed over the duration of the class. Additionally, there will be focus on basketball health and conditioning, sportsmanship and teamwork, and having fun. Student-athletes are encouraged to wear athletic clothes and shoes.
Girls Basketball (Incoming 6th-8th)
Middle School Session 2, July 5 – July 15: 12:30 – 1:50pm

Football – All Level (Coed, Incoming 6th-8th)

Join O’Dowd’s football coaches for football. This is a mixed level class that will focus on learning proper warm up drills and technique, as well as practice ladder and bag drills. There will also be an introduction to tackling component, however, this class will be “touch only” and no actual tackling will take place. Student-athletes will apply their learned skills in seven on seven scrimmage play. This class will place an emphasis on the basics and learning the game of football while having fun. No experience is necessary. Participants are encouraged to wear football or baseball cleats and athletic clothes.
Running and Conditioning (Incoming 6th-8th)
Middle School Session 1, June 13 – June 24, 2022: 2:00 – 3:20pm

Join one of O’Dowd’s cross country coaches on the track this summer! This camp will introduce, train, and teach the fundamentals of sprint and distance running. Each camp session will include: sprint mechanics, the fundamentals of distance running mechanics, plyometric training, agility and flexibility development in addition to building aerobic endurance. No experience is needed to participate in this camp. The goals of this camp are to develop a solid fundamental fitness base and a positive self-image through the development of friendships and interaction with positive adult role models. Student-athletes are encouraged to wear athletic clothes and shoes.
Soccer – Intro (Coed, Incoming 6th-8th)
Middle School Session 1, June 13 – June 24, 2022: 12:30 – 1:50pm

This class is for students new to the sport of soccer. Students will be introduced to the basics of soccer such as position, rules and gameplay.
Student-athletes are encouraged to wear athletic clothes and shoes.

This class is for students with some experience in the sport of soccer. Students will have the opportunity to continue their development and their understanding of the sport via gameplay and opportunity to try new soccer positions.
Student-athletes are encouraged to wear athletic clothes and shoes.
Strength and Conditioning (Incoming 9th)
High School Prep Session, June 15 – July 8 2022: 11:30am – 12:40pm OR 1:15 – 2:35pm

Strength and Conditioning (Incoming 10th-12th)
June 15 – July 13 2022; Monday, Wednesday and Fridays
Session 1 – 10:00-10:45am, or
Session 2 – 10:45-11:30am

This program is scientifically designed for 10-12th grade returning BOD students to measurably improve:
-Dynamic Flexibility
-Range of Motion
-Core Strength
-Explosive Rotational Power
-Endurance & Stamina
-Mental Toughness
You will also identify and correct movement patterns limiting your performance, and learn methods to protect your body from overuse, and fatigue related injuries.
This program is intended for returning 10-12th grade students seeking to develop athletic speed, strength, & power. Registration available now, enrollment limited to maximize instruction.
Volleyball (Coed, Incoming 6th-8th Grade)

During our camp sessions we focus not only the technical side of the game but the physical and mental side too. Participants will learn new techniques, mechanics and gameplay. O’Dowd camp coaches will be striving to push each athlete outside of their comfort zone to have an overall better game. Our goal is to have each player work hard, feel confident, have fun and leave a better player than when they came in.
