Originally from Stoughton, Massachusetts, Kate earned her BA in English from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and her MA in Education from UC Berkeley. She enjoys introducing students to powerful literature and exploring big ideas together, believing the books we read as teenagers often shape us for a lifetime. In her teaching, she places strong emphasis on revision and individual writing conferences, recognizing that every student brings unique strengths and perspectives to their work. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, baking far too many cookies, and spending time with family and neighbors.
