Retreat Prepares Students for Leadership Roles and Community Building


More than 60 student who participate in a variety of campus leadership groups including Associated Student Body (ASB), Campus Ministry Team (CMT), Dragon Ambassadors, Eco-Leaders, Peer Tutors, Student Philanthropy and Solidarity in Action took part in the Advanced Leaders Retreat held at San Damiano Retreat House in Danville August 6-7.


The students got to know each other and learn more about each group’s particular mission, prepared to greet and support members of the Class of 2022 at the BOWOW – Freshman Week of Welcome, and worked to create a cohesive leadership group that can support each other and spread the message of unity and school spirit throughout our school community.

“The Advanced Leadership Retreat was an amazing experience – not only for bonding with my fellow classmates, but also to dive deeper into learning how to be an effective leader,” CMT member Bianca Shaw ’19 said. “I learned the importance of listening and how to be an engaged listener.”


A number of faculty and staff supported the students in their retreat work including associate principals Brian Judd and Jase Turner, Director of Campus Ministry Mary Hicken, Religion Teacher and Retreat Coordinator Michael Downs, Director of Student Activities Starr Gray ’98, Assistant Director of Student Activities Marguerite Green, Director of Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy LizaDawn Aduviso, Director of Academic Support Catherine Harris and Sustainability and Living Lab Programs Coordinator Isabel Rodriguez-Vega.
