Peter Murphy ’18, with the Boys Scouts of America – Alameda Council, Troop 1015, earned the organization’s highest rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor held April 8, 2018. For his Eagle project, Peter and a group of volunteers from O’Dowd, Alameda High, Oakland Strokes and the Troop re-landscaped an overgrown garden area at Lincoln Middle School in Alameda. The beautification project involved the digging of plants and dirt and forming walking paths of decomposed granite where a large table and benches were centered for the middle schoolers to gather.
Peter presented his plan and budget to the school’s PTA and was granted funds towards the project as well as fundraised for final funds needed for its completion. Peter and his volunteers’ final work was approved by the principal of the school just prior to his 18th birthday.
