O’Dowd Contingent in Washington, D.C.

Twenty-six O’Dowd students, led by American Government teacher Bonnie Sussman, departed for Washington, D.C., on January 18 where they are participating in the Close Up government studies program.

This week, O’Dowd students have been teamed with students from Michigan, Texas, Florida and Georgia, as well as others from California, and are engaging in debate about major political and social issues.

They have also toured the National Cathedral, laid a wreath on behalf of O’Dowd at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, toured the Newseum, a museum dedicated to the First Amendment, and attended a performance of the Capitol Steps, who put the “MOCK” back in democracy. They will also be touring New York City.
