Why I Teach:

I am a school counselor.

Most powerful teaching technique:

Patience, a sense of humor, and a whole bunch of Kleenex.

Why are the subjects you teach important?:

I feel that I have a wonderful opportunity to give my students a space where they can feel free to express themselves without judgment or criticism.
It is hard to be a high school student. I hope to give my students unconditional positive reinforcement while holding them to the standard of personal truth.

Favorite quotes:

"Only kinship. Inching ourselves closer to creating a community of kinship such that God might recognize it. Soon we imagine, with God, this circle of compassion. Then we imagine no one standing outside of that circle, moving ourselves closer to the margins so that the margins themselves will be erased. We stand there with those whose dignity has been denied. We locate ourselves with the poor and the powerless and the voiceless. At the edges, we join the easily despised and the readily left out. We stand with the demonized so that the demonizing will stop. We situate ourselves right next to the disposable so that the day will come when we stop throwing people away." - Fr. Greg Boyle

Favorite trivia:

My high school's mascot is the Phantoms because our football field was built on top of the first Catholic cemetery in Los Angeles.

Recommended visual media:

Hobbies or outside interests:

I enjoy the live music experience, sports (Go Dodgers) and chasing after my 3 year old daughter.
