Why I Teach:

I've taught a lot of subjects over the years - Spanish, Art, Physical Science, Algebra - and I've had many roles in schools- Teacher, Counselor, College Counselor, Admissions Director, Assistant Director, Dean of Students. I can say with great confidence that I was meant to be a Counselor. I love it.

Most powerful teaching technique:

Of course, listening and being truly present. Allowing silence to happen. Not rushing. Students often need time to find the right words. I love seeing where the silence takes us.

Why are the subjects you teach important?:

Favorite quotes:

Favorite trivia:

I was BOD Treasurer my senior year but lost two elections prior to that. Resilience pays off and shedding a tear can be a great release.

Recommended visual media:

Anything by Terrence Malick- The Thin Red Line, The New World, Tree of Life (see them!), Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, The Sweet Hereafter (if you're in the mood for a devastating film)

Recommended reads:

Atonement, Ian McEwen Anything by Paul Auster (and his screenplays) Just Kids, Patti Smith

Hobbies or outside interests:

Chatting with my husband and three children, Lucia, Mariana and Dashiell. Reading, thrifting, and gardening. Hanging out with my mom, the fabulous Mrs. A.
