Sojourn to the Past Trip Information

In 1957, Minnijean Brown Trickey was one of nine African-American students who broke the color barrier at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a participant on the civil rights tour Sojourn to the Past you will get to meet Minijean and hear her story first hand.

Often called  “one of the most courageous persons the Civil Rights Movement ever produced,” John Lewis has dedicated his life to protecting human rights, securing civil liberties, and building what he calls “The Beloved Community” in America. This time we are lucky enough to have Congressman Lewis traveling with us on the trip, imagine one of the most prominent civil rights figures riding side by side with your student.

The trip is in March, but we have to reserve our spots now. Mrs. Green will host a parent information night on Wednesday October 12, Room 213 in the classroom building at 7 p.m. where you will hear from some of the students who participated last year.  There is financial aid available. Please contact her at mgreen@bishopodowd.org with any questions or concerns.
