IMPORTANT Announcement – Oct. 13 – Spirit Week Cancellation

13 October, 2017

Dear O’Dowd Community,

We met with student leaders today to discuss this issue and arrived at the best decision, given the alternatives.

Because of weather service predictions that air quality for next week will not improve, we are rescheduling Spirit Week to October 30th through November 3rd.

Here’s the revised calendar, but please know that our online calendar reflects these changes:

October 16-20: All full school days.

October 23-27: Monday no change, Tuesday no change, Wednesday *Early Dismissal Office Hours, Thursday *Early Dismissal Office Hours, Friday Early Dismissal Faculty Meeting

*Opportunity for students who’ve missed school to meet with their teachers

October 30-Nov 3: Monday MP/Rally, Tuesday MP/Rally, Wednesday Liturgy, Thursday Early Dismissal–Department Meeting, Friday MP/Olympics

At this point, we are not certain where the dance will be scheduled.

Traditionally during Spirit Week, students spend a significant amount of time outside before, during, and after school for high energy activities. We want to preserve the fun and excitement of Spirit Week and want to make sure that the air quality will allow us to continue in the high energy activities.

If air quality does not improve in the next several weeks, and we are unable to carry out Spirit Week then, we will move Spirit Week to next semester. We are hoping this won’t be the case! Thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding.

Please pray for affected families and that this fire season will end quickly.

Thank you,

O’Dowd Administration
