Why I Teach:
I love the enthusiasm and motivation of athletics. Knowing the hard work and dedication of the athletes behind the scenes makes every win and loss that much more exciting. Teaching these students how to take care of their bodies and take them to the next level is fun and rewarding.
Most powerful teaching technique:
I like to teach the athletes how to do something themselves over doing it for them. Someday, I won't be there to stretch your hamstrings so you should learn how to do it on your own!
Why are the subjects you teach important?:
If you aren't healthy and taking care of yourself you aren't able to perform at your highest level, whether that be nutrition, off-season programs, or game preparation. Those tools you learn will carry and help you in every aspect of your life.
Favorite quotes:
Wounds heal. Scars fade. Glory is forever. This is such a great sports medicine quote! Being injured is so difficult mentally and I think this quote shows a lot of mental toughness to get through injury.
Favorite trivia:
Only 1.4% of high school football players get a D1 football scholarship. This is the HIGHEST percent given behind women's golf (1.6%). That means academics are really what is important!
