Updated Covid-19 Policy 23-24
Bishop O’Dowd High School follows the guidelines and protocols for COVID-19 as recommended by the CDC. The following is in line with the most current recommendations as of May 2023:
- If you are experiencing symptoms, do NOT attend school and take a COVID test.
- If you have tested positive for COVID, you should isolate regardless of vaccination status or lack of symptoms and adhere to the following:
- Stay home for at least 5 days.
- Isolation can end after Day 5 if:
- Symptoms are not present, or are mild and improving; AND
- You are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication).
- If fever is present, isolation should continue until fever has resolved for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medications, such as Tylenol/Ibuprofen).
- If other symptoms are not resolving, continue to isolate until symptoms are resolving, you test negative, or until after Day 10.
For Students:
- Contact the O’Dowd Attendance Office (via email: attendance@bishopodowd.org or phone: (510) 553-8691) with the status of the student’s COVID test results.
- Re-test after 5 days; if negative, report the test result to the Attendance Office and return to school.
- Wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings.
