Clubs

Clubs are a hallmark of student life at O’Dowd, and there are more than 50 for students to choose from. Becoming a well-rounded young adult is a crucial part of the learning process and clubs provide creative outlets for student expression, as well as opportunities for leadership.

Asian Student Alliance

Our mission is to provide a space for everyone to learn about, celebrate, and discuss Asian culture. ASA explores topics and experiences affecting diverse Asian youth populations nationally and internationally. We also celebrate the traditions that make various Asian cultures so rich!

Baking Club

Love Baking and to share your yummy recipes? Do you know nothing about baking and want to learn!? What better way to connect right now than learning about making sweet treats and yummy delights!

Bay Area Student Activists

Staying active in all social and political justice ventures.

Bay Scholar Club

The Bay Scholars Club celebrates students that received a Bay Scholars scholarship upon entrance to O’Dowd. Our club focuses on future planning, including local college tours, career advancement, and fun activities (that will always include food!). Come check it out.

The Bishop’s Dungeoneers

The Bishop’s Dungeoneers is the premier club for Dungeons & Dragons at this school. D&D is a really fun roleplaying game where you create characters to battle terrifying monsters, travel across continents, and otherwise interact in the infinity of possible worlds dreamed up by your Dungeon Master. From absolutely ridiculous to deadly serious, from the tip of Mount Celestia to the City of Brass, as simple, complicated, or creative as you want, Dungeons & Dragons can do it.

Book Club

In book club we pick and read a book every few months and talk about it during the following meeting. We offer food (a lot in fact), fun, occasionally trivia, and good conversation. Once in a while we will watch the movie of the book if provided. The Book Club picks one book per month and holds monthly book discussions at MPs. We play games and watch movie adaptation of the books we read. We have also hosted many authors including Jennifer Niven, Ava Dellaira, and Sarah Dessen.

Bring Change to Mind

The BC2M High School Program is a student-led club initiative that encourages teens to learn and explore mental health topics in a safe and supportive environment. Through this student-led club initiative, we help to erase the stigma around mental illness by increasing awareness and education, fostering student empowerment, building mentoring opportunities, and encouraging youth to challenge the misconceptions that so commonly surround mental health conditions.

(BSU) Black Student Union

The goal of the BSU is to educate the community(local and global) on the history of African people and on the successes and injustices of the group. We also aim to help cultivate personal identity and pride through education on heritage and brainstorm for success in the future.

Chess

We are here to play chess; We play for fun and bragging rights.

Computer Club

Adventure into the exciting world of computers with the Bishop O’Dowd Computer Club! Learn about computing in a way you have never experienced before! We repair and refurbish computers to help those in need.

Dragon Dance

Celebrating all forms of dance expression. Also learning about dance as a profession and what the business side is like.

Debate

Join us if you are interested in developing your public speaking and critical thinking skills, or if you wanna learn more about politics and what you can do to make our world a better, more equitable place for us all :). No experience is needed to join our kickin’ squad.

DECA Club

DECA is a global program that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in high schools and colleges for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. All interested students welcome!

Desi

DESI Club is an affinity space for students who identify with DESI/Southeast Asian Culture. We hope to provide a safe and welcoming space for students to speak to the issues they face as a community.

Dragon Ambassadors

Assist the Admissions office with all admissions events, sharing our O’Dowd story and experiences, hosting visiting students and answering questions from prospective families.

Dumbledore's Army

We are the school’s Harry Potter club, and we’re here to give people a magical time!

Eco Club

Bishop O’Dowd’s Eco Club is the student action team of the Department of Sustainability. Eco Club Members support and encourage each other in efforts to sustain and care for oneself and the collective, build a sustainable O’Dowd community, and bring forward an environmentally sustainable, socially just, and economically viable world. Eco Club consists of many “branches” that focus on different aspects of sustainability and environment.

Feminist Club

Feminist club is about fighting about equal rights for women. We discuss current issues about equal rights and how we as the next generation of America can make a difference.

Filipino Club

The Filipino Club is a place for everybody to embrace Filipino culture. We have potlucks throughout the school year to come together and bond over delicious food and we also perform a traditional dance called “tinikling” during the assemblies. We are looking to dive deeper into our cultural practices and traditions. All Are welcome!

Film & Movie Club

Do you like watching movies and tv shows? Do you want to talk about them with others who share interests with you? Then Film and Movie Club is for you! In addition to watching and discussing movies together, we have plans to create a film as a group. We want to create a space where everyone has a role in deciding the activities and what we create.

Fitness & Health Club

If you want some simple and quick ways to exercise, stay active, etc. Welcome to all, (especially those who want motivation)!

French

The official French club of Bishop O’Dowd. We provide a space to learn the French language, engage in French culture.

Geography Club

We see and discuss the world through a geographical lens. Let’s explore the world without prejudices and stereotypes!

Girls Who Code

Enjoy helping your community? Want to build your own cool apps? When you join Girls Who Code, you become a member of a community of 300K+ middle and high school female students who want to use Computer Science to change the world! Come to our monthly meetings and learn how to code from fun online tutorials and activities that will help you build animations, games, and apps using Scratch, Python, JavaScript and Thunkable programming languages.

Investment Club

Do you want to be rich? Do you want to learn about making money and learn how to make it last? If so, come JOIN THE INVESTMENT CLUB so you can learn about investing, stocks, money management and planning.

Italian Club

The Italian Club was created to celebrate the culture and the history of Italian Americans in this country. Many of our students have that background as well as are eager to learn more about the history of this group and the challenges as well as successes that they endured. We also want to be involved in reaching out to other cultural clubs and celebrate what we have that connects us as a community.

Jewish Club

To connect Jewish students at O’Dowd with one another and engage all students at O’Dowd regardless if their faith to celebrate and gain awareness about the Jewish faith.
Because O’Dowd is an interfaith community, and we want to make sure all of the Jewish kids at O’Dowd have a club to celebrate important holidays, discuss the importance of faith, and give back to our community through volunteering.

JSA - Junior Statesman of America

We promote political knowledge and activism and develop debate skills, depth of thought, and public speaking proficiency. We are educating the next generation of future leaders. JSA – Discover What You Stand For! JSA is a political debate club; our membership is politically diverse. It’s a great opportunity to meet politically oriented kids from other high schools.

KQED Club

We are a Youth Activist club that gives all students at O’Dowd a chance to speak they’re mind and be published.

Latinos Unidos

Latinos Unidos is a club that celebrates Latinx culture. The club dances at masses and assemblies. They make an all school Day of the Dead altar and they prepare and sell food to pay for their bailefolklorico dance lessons.(When we are on campus) Latinos Unidos brings awareness to events and situations that affect the Latinx community through many events throughout the year.

Native Indian/Indigenous Association

The Native and Indigenous Association (NIA) is a social justice rooted affinity group dedicated to creating a safe space, building school wide awareness/education and preserving culture for those students that identify as Native American and/or a member of an Indigenous group. Additionally, it is a space welcoming those allies who wish to take part in this collective movement to support and protect Native/Indigenous cultures both within the O’Dowd community and beyond.

Network Club

Community in Diversity – The Network Club will provide a platform for O’Dowd students to make new connections and build their own communities, not just between students, but also with alumni. This will allow students to expand and diversify their networks, and make O’Dowd a more interconnected community.

Love the outdoors? Talk all things outdoors, backpacking, camping, hiking and various other adventures with the Outdoor Adventure Club!

Beginners welcome! Studying the art of photography! Lighting, equipment use and all different styles. There are many stories one image can tell.

Physics Club

Ping Pong

Ping Pong Club unites students from every grade for fun, healthy competition and provides an enjoyable environment to relax. It gives students the opportunity to meet new people and develop their ping pong skills. We are coming up with creative ways to connect with our club members remotely!

Pre Pre Med

Interested in pursuing a career in the health sciences? The Pre-Pre Med club provides information and supports hands-on activities and opportunities to those interested in pursuing a career in the field of health or medical care. Through hearing from speakers from a variety of medical professions, we hope that you will take away valuable lessons and further your interest in a medical career.

Polynesian

Polynesian Club focuses on the many islands of the South Pacific. We participate in fun activities together, have potlucks, and perform cultural dances at Multi-Cultural Week. In these actions and activities we strive to highlight our rich Polynesian heritage and to educate the O’Dowd community about the different Polynesian cultures.

R & R Club (Relax & Recuperate)

Relax & Recuperate techniques are needed now more than ever! Learn simple ways you can help yourself relax through meditation, walking and other activities.

Red Cross Club

The Bishop O’Dowd Red Cross Club’s mission is to help those who are in need, and make a difference in the world around us. We educate the community through disaster trainings and fundraise for area around the world enduring hardship.

Rising Above

Helping students look to their future and rise above any given circumstances to achieve their goals.

Robotics Club

The Bishop O’Dowd robotics club promotes STEM thinking and learning. Known for our prowess in robotics contests such as UC Berkeley’s PiE robotics competition we are one of California’s top High School level robotics clubs. No experience necessary, just a will to learn, create, and explore.

Skate Club

Our mission is to bring together people who are interested in skateboarding, regardless of skill level or gender, and welcome them to the skateboarding community.

Solidarity In Action

Through solidarity with those who experience injustice, we empower O’Dowd youth to grow as a community of learners and agents of change.We will serve the community by advocating for and working with marginalized groups in order to leave an impactful legacy that inspires future leaders and much more.
