Grand Reunion 2021
Grand Reunion 2021
Thank you to those that joined us Saturday afternoon for the Virtual Grand Reunion 2021!
Nearly 300 alumni gathered virtually for Saturday’s Grand Reunion. While we couldn’t be together in person, the sense of Dragon community was astoundingly strong. Nicholas Williams ’90 and Nicki DeMarais Shaw ’81 were incredible hosts and shared their Dragon spirit and favorite O’Dowd memories with the crowd. Special guests included President J.D. Childs, Tracey Broadhead Frith ’85 and Brian Cushing ’84.
Stay tuned for next year’s Grand Reunion ’22 on May 7th celebrating classes ending in 2 and 7.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Grand Reunion? The Grand Reunion will be virtual (guests may join through a computer, tablet or smartphone) and will take place May 1, 2021 from 4:00 – 5:30 P.M. The event will be live, providing guests the ability to catch up with one another and speak with teachers and students.
What is a ‘Virtual’ event? A virtual event is an online event that allows people to interact online rather than in person. Due to Covid-19 precautions, most events this past year have been virtual.
How can I join the Virtual Grand Reunion? An email with a link to access the reunion will be sent to all registered guests a few days before the event. Guests should plan to join the Grand Reunion through a laptop or desktop computer for the best viewing experience. Joining through a tablet or smartphone does not allow for complete functionality.
Will my computer need anything special installed to join the Grand Reunion? Guests will need ZOOM software (Version 5 and up) installed on their computers in order to join the Grand Reunion. If ZOOM is not currently on your computer, you will be prompted to install ZOOM just by clicking the link to the Grand Reunion. Links will be emailed a few days before the Grand Reunion begins.
Can I talk to my graduation classmates at this Grand Reunion? Yes! After hearing from President JD Childs and playing trivia with Brian Cushing ‘84, guests will be sent to virtual ‘classrooms’ organized by graduation year. Guests can catch up with fellow classmates from their graduation year as well as enter other years’ classrooms to visit with alumni from different graduating classes.
When will invitations be mailed? Invitations will be mailed on March 20th and email reminders will be sent in April.
Who will receive an invitation? The 2021 Grand Reunion will celebrate classes ending in 0, 1, 6 and 5 and all members of those classes will receive an invitation after March 20th. In addition, all members of the 50+ classes will receive an invitation. All alumni are welcome to attend.
How do I RSVP? Guests may register for the event at bishopodowd.org/grandreunion2021. You may also contact the alumni office at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (510) 577-9100 x900
Will there be a Golden Diploma Ceremony? Our Golden Alums (Classes of 1970 and 1971) will receive a special Golden Alumni package in the mail. There will also be a recognition ceremony in the separate breakout ‘classrooms’ for our Golden Alumni.
What should I wear? Because this event takes place from the comfort of your living room, you can dress exactly as you like. You are encouraged to show your Dragon pride – even if it is from your couch! Remember that all guests will be able to see you and the view behind you on their own computers.
Will there be food and drinks at the Grand Reunion? Sadly, no. But please make yourself comfortable at home with your favorite snack and beverage before sitting down to join the Grand Reunion!
Should Alumni couples join from one computer or two separate computers? The Grand Reunion will allow for all guests to enter breakout rooms to socialize with fellow classmates from their graduating class. Only ONE breakout room can be entered at a time from a computer. Therefore, alumni couples might want to consider joining from two separate computers if they’d like to join their own class breakout rooms.
