In addition to our standard curriculum, Bishop O’Dowd High School offers students the opportunity to take a host of advanced academics courses to better prepare students for college and beyond. From Honors and AP courses to early college credit, students can expand their learning across nearly any subject.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) COURSES
O’Dowd offers more than 25 Advanced Placement and Honors courses. AP coursework is college level and students may receive college credit of advanced standing upon completion. Students who enroll are required to take the AP College Board exam at the end of the course.
Students who wish to enroll in an AP course next year must indicate the AP course of choice during online course registration in PowerSchool. AP applications are no longer required.
Please Note: Students who do not meet the AP class prerequisite requirements MUST complete the appropriate AP Challenge form to be considered for enrollment.

COLLEGE CREDIT
Early College Credit Courses: Beginning in their sophomore year, students can take an online college course each semester and each summer. Participating students can earn between 3-21 units of transferable college credit.

CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) exists to promote and recognize high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship on the part of students in California schools. O’Dowd has an official CSF chapter. Life membership requires one of the four semesters of membership be earned with senior grades, so students are encouraged to apply early.
Membership is based on scholarship and citizenship only. Membership is held during the semester following when qualifying grades were earned and is for one semester only. In order to become a member, student’s must submit an application each semester, following the point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws. Students must earn sufficient points using the pre-approved course lists. The majority of the required membership points must come from University of California accepted course work.
