Bishop O’Dowd High School welcomes transfer students entering into their sophomore or junior year who want to be part of our faith-filled, culturally diverse community. We will consider academically qualified, enthusiastic students who are ready to challenge themselves and contribute to our school community. O’Dowd is interested in students who seek positive growth in their personal and academic goals.

Qualified transfer students will be considered and accepted at each class level on a case by case basis. Generally, O’Dowd does not accept senior transfers for only one year.  Instances of family relocation or personal hardship are considered.

Students applying for admission to Bishop O’Dowd High School as a transfer student into grades 10 or 11 must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at their current school pursuing a college preparatory curriculum, with no D’s or F’s (verification will be required).

To initiate consideration of your child’s application for admission to Bishop O’Dowd High School at the 10th or 11th grade level, please submit an online application and immediately fax or mail a copy of the student’s current high school transcript, middle school transcripts and most recent standardized test scores to:

Supplemental Forms

In addition to the forms you will complete online, there is a separate form you must complete and return to the Bishop O'Dowd Office of Admissions. You will find links to these forms below.

• Have your child's current school complete this Transfer Student Form.
• Ask your pastor/rabbi to complete the bottom portion of the Clergy Recommendation form. Please provide the school and your pastor/rabbi stamped envelopes addressed to: Office of Admissions, Bishop O'Dowd High School, 9500 Stearns Avenue, Oakland, CA 94605. These forms need to be returned to Bishop O'Dowd High School.
