Extended Immersion Program
Immersion Trip: a Life Changing Experience
Be involved in a life changing experience – apply for an immersion.
An extended immersion trip is an opportunity to see your world in a completely different way. Each trip incorporates:
-
a
service
project,
-
an analysis of
social justice
in the local area,
-
spiritual
reflection time,
-
intentionally
simplifying
your lifestyle, and
-
building
solidarity
with local people and an immersion
community
of participants who support each other.
The sites vary each year, but every trip is selected to provide these essential components.
The extended immersion program at O’Dowd is open to current students who have finished sophomore year by the time of the trip. Sophomores can apply to summer trips, but not the Spring Break trip. Seniors may apply for Spring Break, but not summer.
Each trip is 6 to 12 days and includes required pre-immersion meetings, retreats, self-education, and follow-up action at school.
Application Process
The application is made to the program, not to a particular trip (except for Spring Break), although applicants may indicate their preference.
