Student Publications
The Muse is the art and literary magazine published by students. It is published once a year in the spring.
The Crozier is the school newspaper for Bishop O’Dowd. It has been continuously printed for fifty-eight years. The number of issues published each year varies between four and six. The Mitre is the school yearbook for Bishop O’Dowd which comes out in May. It too has been published every year since the first classes met in 1951. The Crozier and Mitre serve as the main vehicles for recording events during the school year. The Crozier also serves as the main medium for expression of student views/opinions.
Both the Crozier and the Mitre are student produced publications. Students enroll in a Journalism class that meets as a regular block schedule class. Students are introduced to the basics of news reporting, desktop publishing, design and photography through this course. It is the goal of the course to help students become accurate, creative and objective journalists with competency in desktop publishing related programs. Students also have the opportunity to gain experience in leadership positions through a variety of editorial staff positions.
