"We're very excited about our strong showing at last weekend's CMEA Band Festival last weekend"
says band director Mr. Randolph, "the students have come such a long way since the beginning of
the year. They've learned the value of working as a team and the importance of playing music with
proper dynamics, articulation, rhythm, and intensity. We got a lot of positive feedback as well as ideas for things
to improve on in the future and I'm really looking forward to working with the band next fall. With this
year as a start there is no limit to how far we can go!"

O’Dowd Symphonic Band Partnering with MUSE Band
Music at O’Dowd is really expanding these days thanks to collaborative relationships being created between our music program and others. This past Sunday, MUSE band (Musical Understanding through Sound Education) under the leadership of Bryant Allard held its annual concert at the O’Dowd theater with our Symphonic Band as special guests.
As it turns out Allard and O’Dowd Music Director Fred Randolph are old friends. “I’ve known Bryant Allard for a long time and have admired his work with elementary and middle school music students. It makes total sense to partner with them, especially since they are based in Bay Area Catholic Schools. Many of the youngsters were inspired by our talented Symphonic Band students at the concert and we hope to attract them as potential O’Dowd students as a result. Toward that end, MUSE will offer a Summer Band Camp at O’Dowd starting this summer, hopefully using some of our own students as instructors. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with MUSE.
